About Guji Coffee

Guji is a relatively new but rapidly rising star in the Ethiopian coffee world, located in the southeastern part of the Oromia region. This area has gained significant recognition in recent years for producing coffees with distinctive and bold flavor profiles that set them apart from other Ethiopian regions. Guji coffees are characterized by their fruity, sweet, and winey characteristics, often displaying a heavier body than their counterparts from other regions. The high altitude, ranging from 1,800 to over 2,200 meters above sea level, combined with the region's unique terroir, creates ideal conditions for developing intense fruit flavors. Both natural and washed processing methods are used, with natural processed Guji coffees being particularly celebrated for their explosive fruit character. Common tasting notes include stone fruits like peach and apricot, various berries, tropical fruits, and subtle floral undertones. The region's coffee has become increasingly popular among specialty coffee roasters and enthusiasts who appreciate its bold, fruit-forward profile and wine-like complexity.
